Spring Beauty Fix at Centrale Croydon
Before I jetted off on my New York City holiday I headed over to the Spring Beauty Fix at the Centrale shopping center in Croydon. They were holding a beauty amnesty, where you drop off old make-up in exchange for a voucher to use on new beauty treats! There was plenty of fun to be had with free make-overs by Lancome (which I jumped at the chance of having), free manicures and plenty of fashion advice on hand!
I recently headed off to the Fashion & Textile Museum to check out the Thea Porter exhibition – Thea is the woman behind 70’s-style boho chic, her unique style is still influencing the fashion scene today. The exhibition displays a large amount of her work from textiles, garments, artwork and photographs, and traces Porter’s journey from upholstery to clothes, taking in her abiding love of antique materials, particularly 1930s French voiles, Ottoman velvets, Swiss chiffons, Indian handprints, Islamic embroidery and the lavish brocades of Damascus, where she grew up. It defiantly was a visual feast for the eyes and great for getting 70’s style inspiration!
On Thursday I braved the rain and headed off to the White Stuff’s press day. It was full of beautiful autumnal goodies, I mean look at those chelsea boots with contrast tweed detail! There was plenty of I can’t wait to buy that moments and I’m adding that to my wish list! There was also a huge amount of foodie goodies on offer, I did my best an resisted but did succumb to a yummy vodka cocktail! Another great addition to their press day was illustrator Alice Bonsher, who has created a cute collection of woodland animals which will be featured in the AW15 add campaigns and window displays. She was also at the dress day creating customised post cards, I snapped two of these adorable little plywood cards up!
